Freelance Travel Spend & Market Explorer

About the role

We are looking for observant travelers to help us validate PayMoji, a QR‑code payment app for Southeast Asia. You will work on the ground in Vietnam or the Philippines, documenting how locals and merchants handle digital payments.

Key responsibilities

• Visit cafés, night markets and other venues during your normal travel routine and record the payment experience.
• Use the PayMoji app to scan QR codes at shops, restaurants and transport points, reporting on transaction success and any friction.
• Map the balance between cash and digital payments, noting which vendors accept QR codes and where cash remains dominant.
• Observe merchant reactions to foreign travelers using local digital payment methods and capture any barriers.

Required profile

• Active traveler or digital nomad currently staying in Vietnam or the Philippines, with a genuine understanding of local daily life.
• Curious and comfortable interacting with locals, asking questions and noticing details about payment habits.
• Self‑motivated and able to follow a simple research brief independently, providing clear and honest feedback.

What we offer

• Project‑based freelance compensation, allowing you to earn while you explore.
• Flexibility to complete tasks during your regular travel activities without disrupting your lifestyle.
• Potential for additional projects as PayMoji expands across Southeast Asia.
