Automotive Hardware Penetration Testing Internship

About the role

This 6‑month full‑time internship gives you the chance to work on automotive hardware security within Bosch's Global Software Technologies unit in Ho Chi Minh City. You will support penetration testing activities on embedded automotive systems and gain hands‑on experience with real ECUs and security tools.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute penetration tests on automotive hardware components and ECUs.
• Set up and operate hardware debugging equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG/SWD interfaces.
• Analyze firmware, identify vulnerabilities, and propose mitigation strategies.
• Document test procedures, findings, and technical reports.
• Collaborate with engineers during the innovation project phase to integrate security considerations.

Required profile

• 3rd or 4th year student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or a related field.
• Available for a full‑time internship of 6 months, Monday to Friday.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Strong curiosity for automotive security and a problem‑solving mindset.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate technical results clearly.

Required skills

• Knowledge of microcontrollers (e.g., RH850) and embedded systems.
• Programming in C, C++ and basic Python.
• Experience with hardware debugging tools: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD debuggers.
• Understanding of cybersecurity concepts, threat modeling and cryptography.
• Familiarity with reverse‑engineering tools such as Ghidra and ChipWhisperer (preferred).
