About the role

The Agricultural Inspector (FSN‑8) will support USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Preclearance program in the Asia‑Oceania region. This premium service facilitates the rapid entry of high‑value fresh fruit commodities into the United States, ensuring compliance with U.S. plant health regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct preclearance inspections for fresh fruit shipments from designated Asian and Oceanian countries.
• Verify compliance with USDA APHIS quarantine and phytosanitary standards.
• Coordinate with exporters, importers, and regulatory agencies to resolve any non‑conformities.
• Prepare and maintain accurate inspection records and reports.
• Provide technical guidance on crop, orchard, and quarantine operations.

Required profile

• Either three years of agricultural field experience (crop or orchard management) or experience in regulatory quarantine operations.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in biological sciences, agriculture, horticulture, natural resources, or a related field.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, detail‑oriented environment.
