Aircraft Mechanic II - Egress

About the role

The Aircraft Mechanic II - Egress performs organizational, intermediate and limited depot-level maintenance on assigned aircraft, components and equipment, including inspection, operational testing, repair, modification and troubleshooting. The role covers egress systems, life support and related aircraft systems.

Key responsibilities

• Remove and install canopies and ejection seats
• Maintain cockpit egress and life support systems of moderate difficulty, such as seats, canopies, CADs and heating/cooling systems
• Inspect and operate powered and non-powered aerospace ground equipment
• Review maintenance forms, aircraft records, automated maintenance data systems and historical reports to ensure complete documentation
• Maintain aircraft support equipment and an orderly workspace
• Install and remove cartridge-actuated devices and perform related duties in hazardous areas such as oxygen systems and engine fire extinguishing systems
• Perform inspections and maintenance of air conditioning, fire warning/extinguishing and pressurization systems, and treat corrosion
• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot equipment cooling, liquid/gaseous and OBOGS oxygen systems
• Maintain FOD, hazardous waste and tool control programs
• Interpret maintenance manuals, requirement cards, schematics, drawings and technical directives to carry out maintenance

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Completed Egress course and documented training
• FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license
• Five years of applicable aircraft maintenance support experience, including three years on T6 aircraft
• Experience in corrosion detection, treatment and prevention
• U.S. citizenship

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of maintenance and technical manuals, publications and special tools and test equipment
• Familiarity with aircraft system capabilities and limitations
• Customer-oriented approach
