Formulation & Application Technologist (SEA)

About the role

Brenntag is looking for a Formulation & Application Technologist based in Binh Thanh, Vietnam, to support food ingredient solutions across the Southeast Asia region. The role covers product development, technical support to customers, regulatory compliance and close collaboration with sales, innovation and other teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop tailored ingredient blends (hydrocolloids, modified starches, enzymes, proteins, emulsifiers) for food applications such as dairy, beverages and savoury products, aligned with regional regulations
• Run application studies in various food categories to verify the performance of blended solutions
• Provide technical expertise to internal teams and customers on formulation challenges and application troubleshooting, and run root cause analysis on customer production issues
• Develop prototypes with the APAC Innovation & Development team for client presentations and conduct technical training, workshops and product demonstrations
• Work with customers and the sales and business development team to understand their needs, and build strong relationships with key customers in the SEA
• Ensure ingredient blends comply with local regulations (labelling, permitted additives, standards) and liaise with regulatory teams on product specifications and certifications
• Collaborate with Innovation & Development, Business Development, Sales, Marketing, Procurement, Manufacturing and Operations, and work with suppliers to improve blend profitability and find new ingredient suppliers

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in food science, food technology or food engineering
• 10+ years of experience in food R&D, product development or technical service, focused on ingredient solutions
• Proven track record of developing and commercializing functional blends for food applications in the APAC/SEA region
• Understanding of diverse APAC markets, including consumer preferences, product trends and challenges
• Preferred: experience in dairy or plant-based product formulations, and a customer-centric mindset

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of hydrocolloids, starches, emulsifiers, proteins and fibers
• Hands-on experience with food processing equipment and pilot plant operations
• Familiarity with APAC food regulations and compliance requirements
• Preferred: sensory evaluation techniques, data analysis, and proficiency in tools such as Salesforce
