Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Anaergia, a global provider of clean energy and waste-to-resource solutions, is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer for its Vietnam office in Ho Chi Minh City. The engineer develops the mechanical engineering deliverables for projects, ensuring compliance with project requirements, company standards, schedule and quality objectives. The role covers engineering calculations, equipment selection, technical documentation and coordination with other engineering disciplines, and may involve coordinating a small engineering team depending on project size.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the engineering documents package within the agreed schedule and budget, and meet or improve project schedule and quality standards.
• Coordinate the engineering team, distribute tasks, track progress and keep the team motivated.
• Organize design reviews to apply the highest safety standards and reduce environmental impact.
• Identify and propose cost-effective design improvements and technical innovations.
• Prepare concept, basic and detail design drawings in line with local codes and international standards, and perform design calculations, schematics and equipment sizing.
• Check drawings and calculations against company design procedures and standards, and assist the team leader with design specifications, reports, equipment and material take-offs and cost estimates.
• Propose technical innovations and prepare equipment and material technical schedules for review.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field.
• 3 to 5 years of post-graduate experience, with a clear focus on design experience in an engineering consulting environment.
• Knowledge of industrial plant mechanical design, equipment selection, instrument and control design, electrical design and civil works.
• Site inspection or supervision experience on construction projects.
• Self-management of billable hours, good time management and organizational skills.
• Excellent English communication is required.
