Operations Manager

About the role

Wilhelmsen Port Services is seeking an Operations Manager to lead its vessel operations team in Ho Chi Minh City. You will act as the central point of contact for ship owners, masters, and principals, ensuring smooth port activities and high‑quality service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily vessel operations and support the operations department.
• Coordinate incoming and outgoing communications, taking appropriate actions.
• Respond to inquiries on port information, restrictions, quotations for crew changes, repairs, provisions, and other services.
• Facilitate coordination between WPS Operations Executives, shippers, consignees, terminals, and stevedores.
• Ensure compliance with customs, immigration, quarantine, harbor PAT, pilot formalities and local regulations.
• Arrange berthing, report cargo loading/discharging, and document any vessel or cargo damage.
• Review and approve bills of lading and sub‑agent documents before finance processing.
• Train, supervise and evaluate direct reports.
• Maintain relationships with customers, charterers, agents, and authorities.
• Prepare financial and operational reports and monitor KPIs.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree, preferably in shipping operations or a related field.
• Managerial experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of shipping and vessel operations.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle odd hours, weekends and public holidays.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Independent work style with good interpersonal and communication abilities.
