Civil Engineer – Field Inspection & Testing

About the role

The Civil Engineer will conduct field and laboratory testing, inspection and assessment of construction materials and structures for trunk road bridges, retaining walls and related infrastructure. Reporting to the Technical Manager, the role ensures compliance with specifications, safety standards and contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt and steel, and document results.
• Carry out general and principal inspections of bridge structures, retaining walls and high‑mast lighting installations.
• Read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications to guide inspections.
• Provide technical guidance to team members and ensure knowledge transfer.
• Prepare clear inspection reports, follow up on non‑conformance reports and support resolution.
• Maintain and calibrate testing equipment and assist in scope development for testing services.

Required profile

• University degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience as a field inspector in civil construction.
• Knowledge of materials testing and safety certifications.
