Customs Staff

About the role

The Customs Staff member is responsible for managing import and export activities in compliance with Vietnamese customs regulations. The role coordinates the movement of goods and vessels between ports and the Damen Song Cam shipyard, supporting timely clearance and cost‑efficient logistics operations.

Key responsibilities

• Check shipping documents for completeness, accuracy and consistency before customs declaration.
• Monitor import shipment status and prioritize clearance to avoid delays and extra costs.
• Prepare Vietnamese goods descriptions, determine HS codes and compile customs dossiers for various regimes.
• Complete import and export declarations using the ECUS system and process related transactions in SAP.
• Arrange delivery of customs‑cleared goods to the shipyard warehouse.
• Coordinate export bookings, document submission and shipment follow‑up with forwarders.
• Review monthly inventory transactions and support reconciliation for customs finalisation reporting.
• Identify compliance risks, maintain accurate records and support corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Logistics, International Trade, Customs, Supply Chain or related field.
• At least five years of experience in logistics or customs operations within manufacturing, freight forwarding or similar environments.
• Strong knowledge of Vietnamese customs regulations, import‑export procedures, HS‑code classification and Incoterms.
• Good command of English (listening, speaking, reading, writing).
• Analytical, problem‑solving and organisational abilities with high attention to detail.
