Senior Product Development Engineer

About the role

Mattel's Product Development Department is looking for a Senior Product Development Engineer based in Hai Phong, Vietnam. The position reports directly to the Product Development Manager and supports the end-to-end development of new toys and products, working closely with design, engineering and quality teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, design and translate product concepts into defined products and toys, including project management and resolving technical issues.
• Partner with upfront development teams to launch new or resourced products in OEM plants.
• Lead vendors and OEMs on processes and product development.
• Take part in debugging, pilot runs and troubleshooting so that produced products meet quality, cost and schedule.
• Take part in process control and production-line efficiency, minimising scrap and maintaining quality.
• Identify value-improvement and cost-saving opportunities.

Required profile

• University or technical college graduate in mechanical, industrial or another relevant engineering discipline.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in product development or manufacturing, preferably in toys, household/consumer products or injection moulding.
• Fairly good spoken and listening English and good written English; basic Mandarin is an advantage.
• Positive attitude to continuous personal development.
• Frequent local travel of about 1 to 2 hours from the office is required.

Required skills

• Basic PC knowledge.
• 2D and 3D drafting techniques.
