Technical Product Classification Engineer – Trade Compliance

About the role

The Technical Product Classification Engineer will support Bosch's trade compliance function by assigning correct customs tariff codes to products and technologies. You will work with technical specifications, bills of materials and international regulations to ensure accurate classification across our global portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Execute product classification according to national and international customs tariff schedules.
• Collect and analyse technical product information, including specifications and bills of materials, to determine appropriate HS codes.
• Maintain and update a database of classified products with corresponding HS codes and documentation.
• Apply the General Rules for the Interpretation of the Harmonized System to ensure consistent decisions.
• Research customs rulings, explanatory notes and legal precedents to resolve complex classification issues.
• Prepare supporting documentation for internal reviews and customs audits.
• Collaborate with team members to process classification requests and document rationales.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field (mechanical, electrical, software, etc.).
• 1‑3 years of experience in international trade compliance or product classification.
• Advanced proficiency in English, especially reading comprehension of technical and regulatory documents.

Required skills

• HS code classification.
• Knowledge of the Harmonized System and its General Rules for Interpretation.
• Ability to research customs rulings and legal precedents.
• Documentation preparation for compliance audits.
