Legal Officer

About the role

The Legal Officer will support Damen Song Cam Shipyard’s legal affairs, ensuring that all business activities comply with applicable laws and regulations. You will provide practical legal advice, draft and review contracts, monitor regulatory developments, and help manage legal risks across a range of operational areas.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clear, practical legal advice to management and internal departments on operational matters.
• Draft, review, and finalize contracts, agreements, and related legal documents.
• Monitor legislative changes, assess their impact, and recommend actions to relevant teams.
• Negotiate contracts and agreements with internal and external parties.
• Communicate and negotiate with regulators, public authorities, and external counsel.
• Support complex legal matters involving multiple stakeholders and competing requirements.
• Prepare legal reports and documentation as assigned.
• Represent or support the company in litigation and coordinate with external lawyers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law.
• Three to five years of relevant legal experience in a law firm, professional‑services firm, or project‑development/construction environment.
• International business experience, especially in import‑export or foreign direct investment, is preferred.
• Strong command of English for professional communication and legal documentation.
• Excellent analytical ability to assess legal risks and propose practical solutions.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to preventing errors.
• Effective interpersonal skills for working with stakeholders at all levels.
• Good planning and organizational skills, with the ability to set priorities and manage resources.
