Nautical Commissioning Engineer – NAVCOM Systems

About the role

Join Damen Song Cam as a Nautical Commissioning Engineer responsible for commissioning navigation and radio communication equipment on newly built vessels. You will ensure that all NAVCOM systems meet client specifications and regulatory standards before delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Check electrical connections and ensure proper fitting of connectors for navigation equipment.
• Perform impedance measurements on antenna systems using specialized tools.
• Verify and simulate the correct functioning of radio navigation systems, troubleshooting any issues.
• Program equipment and update software according to manufacturer requirements and client specifications.
• Participate in sea trials to fine‑tune navigation equipment and resolve arising problems.
• Prepare and support radio survey inspections for ships prior to delivery.
• Complete NAVCOM commissioning reports and hand over documentation to class societies or clients.
• Provide production support to the electrical workshop, reviewing drawings and suggesting improvements.

Required profile

• Maritime University education or equivalent, with studies in electrical, automation, electronics or telecommunications.
• Training or knowledge of IMO regulations for radio navigation equipment.
• Experience in shipbuilding or maritime projects, specifically commissioning radio navigation systems.
• Practical sailing experience or previous role as an electrical officer on board.
