Automotive Engineer – English & Japanese, long‑term onsite Japan

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Key Account Engineer to support automotive component projects for Japanese OEM customers across Passenger Car and Commercial Vehicle applications. The position includes a long‑term onsite assignment in Japan for at least 2.5 years, starting by March 2027, with family accompaniment support.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the first‑level Technical Key Account for assigned automotive component projects.
• Serve as the main technical interface with Japanese OEM customers, handling questions, requirements and clarifications.
• Support execution of customer projects for passenger‑car and commercial‑vehicle applications, ensuring alignment with milestones.
• Coordinate and track Engineering Change Requests and own Quality Gate activities.
• Investigate and support continuous improvement of component and field‑quality issues.
• Prepare and maintain technical customer documentation and support engineering activities such as drawings, experiments and validation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Approximately 4–6 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in automotive component development.
• Business‑level Japanese communication skills (JLPT N2 preferred) and good English.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset with a customer‑oriented approach.
• Willingness to undertake a long‑term onsite assignment in Japan for at least 2.5 years.

Required skills

• Mechanical design and product engineering.

• Knowledge of DNOX and exhaust aftertreatment systems.
• Experience handling Engineering Change Requests and Quality Gate processes.
