Legal Assistant

About the role

DFDL, a legal and tax advisory firm founded in 1994 with offices in several Southeast Asian countries, is recruiting a Legal Assistant for its Ho Chi Minh City office. The role reports to Advisers and Project Managers, works with clients and government officials, and sits within a multi-cultural environment with career development opportunities. It is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 12:00pm and 2:00pm to 6:00pm.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive legal research assistance to senior levels on practice areas such as energy, banking and finance, employment, real estate and technology.
• Assist senior levels with administrative tasks and provide translation support.
• Assist with document management.
• Provide legal advice exclusively on behalf of the Firm and to its clients, and interact with licensing and other regulatory authorities as needed.
• Report to and take instructions from Project Managers and supervising legal advisers.
• Assist other legal advisers, administrative and management personnel and the Firm as required.
• Participate in knowledge management, professional development and Firm administrative activities, and perform other assigned tasks.

Required profile

• Fluent Vietnamese and excellent spoken and written English.
• Between 0 and 2 years of professional work experience in a law firm.
• Good problem-solving and lateral thinking, attention to detail, honesty, reliability and strict confidentiality.
• Enthusiasm for a career as a legal adviser or senior legal adviser, self-motivated and able to work in a team and independently.
• Desirable: prior law firm experience, strong legal research skills, and ability to manage time and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
