Senior Project Manager (Japanese)

About the role

SmartOSC is looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of software projects for Japanese enterprise clients. The role owns delivery quality, timeline, budget, and client relationship, working directly with Japanese stakeholders while coordinating offshore engineering teams in Vietnam.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end delivery of multiple software projects and multi‑project programs.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for Japanese clients, conducting meetings, negotiations and reporting in Japanese.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration between Japanese stakeholders and offshore teams.
• Apply Agile methodologies to drive efficient development cycles.
• Identify, monitor and mitigate project risks and issues.
• Provide regular progress updates and documentation in both Japanese and English.
• Mentor junior project managers and support team development.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in software project delivery.
• At least 3 years in a Project/Program Manager role managing distributed or offshore teams.
• Proven track record delivering projects for Japanese clients.
• Business‑level Japanese proficiency (JLPT N2 or higher; N1 preferred).
• Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.
