Technical Product Classification Engineer (Trade Compliance)

About the role

The Technical Product Classification Engineer will support Bosch's trade compliance function by assigning correct tariff codes to products and technologies. Working with cross‑functional teams, you will ensure that classifications follow national and international customs regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Execute product and technology classification according to customs tariff schedules.
• Collect and analyse technical specifications, bills of materials and other product data to determine appropriate HS codes.
• Maintain and update a database of classified items with their HS codes and supporting documentation.
• Apply the General Rules for the Interpretation (GRI) of the Harmonized System to guarantee consistent decisions.
• Research customs rulings, explanatory notes and legal precedents to resolve complex classification issues.
• Prepare documentation for internal reviews and customs audits.
• Collaborate with colleagues to process classification requests and align with established procedures.
• Document classification rationales and research findings for future reference.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements and company quality frameworks.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by managers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, software, etc.).
• Advanced reading proficiency in English to interpret international regulations and technical product descriptions.
• 1–3 years of experience in international trade compliance, customs classification or a related field.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Harmonized System (HS) codes.
• Familiarity with customs tariff schedules.
• Understanding of the General Rules for the Interpretation (GRI) of the HS.
