Primary Teaching Assistant

About the role

The Primary Teaching Assistant will work closely with the class teacher and the wider Primary team at British International School Hanoi to create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment for young learners. This role supports daily classroom activities, delivers targeted interventions and phonics lessons, and helps maintain high expectations for both learning and behaviour.

Key responsibilities

• Provide in‑class support to the teacher, assisting with lesson delivery and classroom management.
• Deliver agreed phonics and intervention sessions for small groups or individual students.
• Reinforce learning objectives and behavioural standards throughout the school day.
• Prepare and organise teaching resources, displays and learning materials.
• Collaborate with the Primary team to monitor student progress and share feedback.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development and school events as required.

Required profile

• University graduate (fresh graduate acceptable).
• Familiarity with the Primary National Curriculum is desirable.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in both English and Vietnamese.
• Experience working with primary‑age students.
• Ability to work constructively as part of a team.
