Senior Research & Analysis Assistant – DPAA Program, Hanoi

About the role

The incumbent will work full‑time as a Senior Research and Analysis Assistant supporting the Casualty Resolution Specialist within the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) Detachment Two. Based at the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi, the role contributes to in‑country research, data collection and analysis that aid recovery operations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct primary and secondary research on historical, political and geographic sources related to missing personnel cases.
• Collect, verify and manage data sets, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Prepare analytical reports, briefings and maps for senior specialists and external partners.
• Assist in coordinating field investigations and liaising with Vietnamese authorities.
• Maintain databases and update geographic information systems as required.

Required profile

• University degree in history, international relations, political science, journalism or English.
• Minimum two years of experience in research, data collection or analytical work.
• Fluent in spoken, written and read English and Vietnamese (both will be tested).
