Senior Telematics Software Engineer – Embedded Android

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Telematics Software Engineer with deep embedded Android expertise to lead the migration of our Telematics Control Unit (TCU) from Embedded Linux to Android Automotive. You will design and implement vehicle‑network interfaces, connectivity, diagnostics and OTA mechanisms within the Android framework while preserving existing performance and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the technical strategy for porting the Linux telematics framework to Android (AOSP/Android Automotive), including gap analysis and migration planning.
• Re‑architect CAN, CAN‑FD, J1939, ISOBUS, UDS, DoIP interfaces as Vehicle HAL extensions or native AIDL/HIDL services.
• Integrate 4G/5G modem, GNSS and cloud protocols (MQTT, HTTPS) via Android system services.
• Migrate OTA (FOTA/SOTA) and remote diagnostics to Android’s A/B seamless update framework.
• Define SELinux policies, permission boundaries and secure‑boot equivalents to meet ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE R155/R156.
• Maintain the Android build system (repo/manifest, device tree, BSP) for the target TCU hardware.
• Develop test strategies to validate functional and performance parity before cut‑over.

Required profile

• 7+ years of embedded software development in automotive or IoT, with strong C/C++ (C++14+) and Java/Kotlin experience.
• Hands‑on experience with embedded Android/AOSP, HAL development, AIDL/HIDL, SELinux and Android build tools.
• Proven track record of migrating a non‑trivial embedded system to a new OS platform.
• Solid knowledge of vehicle networks (CAN, CAN‑FD, J1939, UDS, DoIP) and related tooling (Vector CANoe/CANalyzer).
