Trade Manager - Healthcare and Life Sciences, Vietnam (Maternity Cover)

About the role

The British Government is recruiting a Trade Manager for the Healthcare and Life Sciences sector in Vietnam, as part of the Business, Innovation, Science and Technology (BIST) team. The role leads on promoting UK exports and strengthening the UK-Vietnam trade relationship, and is based in either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. It is a full-time, temporary maternity cover post until 20 September 2027, paid 42,873,000 VND gross per month.

Key responsibilities

• Strategic trade opportunities (25%): build a stakeholder engagement plan, work with Healthcare UK and the British Chamber of Commerce, map the sector pipeline and deliver quarterly updates on export wins.
• Promotional activity (25%): support trade missions, VVIP visits, seminars, webinars and receptions, leading events when required.
• Trade policy and market access (25%): identify non-tariff barriers, work with trade policy colleagues to remove them and keep DBT HQ in London informed.
• Project delivery (25%): run BIST healthcare projects on time and within budget, working with the prosperity team and regional counterparts.

Required profile

• Proactive, self-starting, able to work with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Network of industry contacts in Vietnam's healthcare sector, or the ability to build one.
• Experience delivering public events and working with senior business contacts.
• Experience working with the Vietnamese government and local authorities, ideally in healthcare.
• Desirable: familiarity with UK business and culture, and international experience.

Required skills

• IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn FCDO applications and systems.
• Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
