Automotive Hardware Penetration Testing Internship

About the role

Bosch Group is looking for a motivated student to join its Ho Chi Minh City engineering centre for a six‑month, full‑time internship focused on automotive hardware penetration testing. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to explore security weaknesses in embedded automotive ECUs and IoT devices.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and executing hardware‑based penetration tests on automotive ECUs and related embedded platforms.
• Collect and analyse data using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG/SWD interfaces.
• Document findings, create threat models, and propose mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with software engineers to understand firmware and boot processes.
• Participate in an innovation project that may involve reverse‑engineering or hardware hacking tools.

Required profile

• 3rd or 4th year student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
• Available for a full‑time, six‑month internship (Monday‑Friday).
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Strong curiosity about automotive security and problem‑solving mindset.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate technical results clearly.

Required skills

• Programming in C/C++ and basic Python.
• Understanding of microcontrollers (e.g., RH850), memory maps and boot processes.
• Experience with hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD debuggers.
• Fundamental knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, threat modeling or cryptography.
• Familiarity with reverse‑engineering tools (e.g., Ghidra, ChipWhisperer) is a plus.
