Mechanical Engineer (Footwear Industry)

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer will lead maintenance activities to ensure the safe, stable and reliable operation of all production equipment and utility systems in a newly established footwear manufacturing plant. This hands‑on position supports commissioning, ramp‑up and ongoing production, focusing on high equipment uptime and stable process conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and utility systems.
• Support commissioning and ramp‑up phases by installing, testing and adjusting new machinery.
• Develop and follow maintenance schedules to maximise equipment availability.
• Manage maintenance records, spare‑part inventories and work orders.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of hands‑on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in process‑driven industries such as foam, plastics or polymers is preferred.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and the capacity to work independently in a fast‑paced setting.
